CORNWALL TOURISM AWARDS 2013/14 - WILDLIFE FRIENDLY BUSINESS - SILVER AWARD Feadon Farm non-profit wildlife centre is one of the most illuminating you'll find anywhere in the UK. It's an amazing place where both children and adults can get up close and personal to wildlife as diverse as reindeer and badgers. In fact, so far as we know, it is the only place in the UK where you can even hand feed foxes. Part of Gwel an Mor Luxury Resort, Feadon Farm is in a prime countryside location and just a 10 minute drive away from the A30. Meeting our rescued foxes, Todd and Meadow, is a highlight of any visit and will be a lasting memory. Cornwall is a wildlife wonderland and so its the perfect place to discover more about nature and the environment. The passion and enthusiasm of Gary Zammit, our wildlife celebrity and wildlife ranger, is infectious. He knows everything there is to know about wildlife activities and our local marine habitat in Cornwall. Take a guided walk through the woods and fields to discover the hidden wildlife. Meet some of our resident wildlife; foxes, Barn Owl, voles and grass snake to name just a few. Our organised wildlife activities reflect how important nature and our local environment are and, of course, theyre great fun too, whether its the Wildlife Experience, Nature Trail Safari, Falconry, Night Walk or Rock Pooling. A short description of each are as follows Wildlife Experience Join our wildlife ranger for the adventure of a woodland safari, where you will meet some of the local wildlife, before meeting our rescued foxes, Todd and Meadow. You can even fly one of our birds of preyWe have all sorts of other rescued wildlife coming in all the time so who knows what other wonderful creatures you might meet! Nature Trail Safari Enjoy a visit to our secret pond and search for the creatures that live there, including frogs, toads and some quite amazing insects. Youre bound to find lots of other wildlife on our woodland walk, before meeting our famous Gwel an Mor reindeer. Rock Pooling Enjoy this classic seaside pastime, rock pooling is always fun but our ranger adds a new dimension. Get a new perspective on Hermit Crabs, Starfish and Sea Hares and whatever else turns up on the day- you might even see a seal- and if you are lucky, catch a glimpse of a dolphin. Falconry Meet Harry the Harris Hawk and Sly the Barn Owl as well as other other beautiful birds of prey. You will learn about the history of falconry and the equipment used, and after a demonstration youll have the chance to fly the birds yourself. Night Walk This is one of the very best wildlife activities. So much wildlife comes alive only at night. A night lamp and a little expert know how reveals this hidden and magical world. We will look for badgers, owls, deer and foxes close to the holiday lodges. You will even have the chance to meet our own owls and other rescued wildlife. So if you want to hand-feed a rescued fox cub, fly one of our beautiful birds of prey, discover whats lurking in the rock-pools, learn about this strech of coast or just feel as if you know more about a fantastic part of the country, be prepared to discover and to be amazed, at our very own Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre. The Wildlife Centre activities are open to the public as well as holidaying residents at the resort.
