Highclere Castle is one of England's most beautiful Victorian Castles set amidst spectacular parkland near Newbury, Berkshire. The Castle itself stands on the site of an earlier house that, in turn, was built on the foundations of the medieval palace of the Bishops of Winchester who owned this estate from the 8th century.

The Castle Tour highlights some of the principal rooms, pieces of furniture and interesting portraits contained within the Castle to give you a flavour of what you can see at Highclere.

Displayed at Highclere's 'Egyptian Exhibition' are a collection of antiquities including Irtyru's Coffin which was discovered in 1909 by Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter in an tomb at the Eastern end of the path which leads to the temple of Deir el-Bahri.
