The Garden House is centred on an enchanting Walled Garden created by the plantsman Lionel Fortescue and his wife Katharine around the romantic ruins of a medieval vicarage. Lionels's successor Keith Wiley extended the garden into new areas such as the South African Garden, the Acer Glade, the Bulb Meadow and the Cretan Cottage Garden, creating vistas of stunning colour from Spring until Autumn in a pioneering naturalistic style.

Now, Head Gardener Matt Bishop is caring for this legacy, refurbishing some of the historic planting and developing exciting new designs to provide year-round colour.

Join us in the delightful 18th century vicarage for morning coffee, light lunches or afternoon teas. We pride ourelves on delicious, homemade food using local produce. We offer our famous four-course Sunday lunches in March, September and October, and cater for special events like Mother's Day and Christmas.

We are open every day from March 1st to October 31st. The garden lies between the villages of Crapstone and Buckland Monachorum, one and a half miles west of Yelverton. We are clearly signed off the A386 Plymouth - Tavistock Rd. The Garden House is also close to some of the West Country's other great attractions such as the Eden Project, the National Marine Aquarium and Sir Francis Drake's old home, Buckland Abbey. .
