Beningbrough Hall and Gardens Houses
York's county house and garden, this imposing Georgian Mansion was built in 1716 and contains one of the most empressive baroque interiors in England. Exceptional wood carving, an unusual central corridor running the full length of the house, and over 100 pictures on loan from the National Portrait Gallery can be seen inside.
There is also a fully equipped Victorian aundry, delightful walled garden and some intereting sculptures in wood.
Various building works will take place in 2004. The top floor may be closed in October 2004. Please phone for information.
