Loseley Park Houses
Conveniently situated just outside Guildford, Surrey, close to the A3 with its direct links to the M25 and London, it also offers the leisure visitor, a peaceful and fascinating place for a day out.
The Loseley Estate was acquired by direct ancestors of the current owners at the beginning of the 16th Century and Loseley House was built between 1562 and 1568. The House, which is the More-Molyneux family's home, has a number of rooms which are open to the public during the Summer Season (Tours). The Great Hall and the Drawing Room are particularly special, but Other Rooms, including the King's Room and the Queen's Room, are of particular historical interest.
The Great Hall is the magnificent principal room of Loseley House. It contains exquisite panelling from Henry VIII's Nonsuch Palace, a minstrel's gallery, carvings by Grinling Gibbons, panels from Henry VIII's banqueting tents and a fine collection of royal and family portraits.
The Walled Garden, based on a design by Gertrude Jekyll, has been compared favourably with gardens of national repute and contains a series of 'rooms' with different themes running through them. The redevelopment of the Garden commenced in 1993/4 with the Rose Garden and continued with the Herb Garden, Flower Garden, White Garden and, most recently, the organic Vegetable and Cut Flower Garden.
