Paradise Mill Museums
Paradise Mill, situated a short distance from the Silk Museum, was a working silk mill until 1981. Today, Paradise Mill is a living museum. The jacquard handlooms
have been restored and knowledgeable and entertaining guides demonstrate the intricate production processes. Because of the working machinery all visits to the mill must be on a guided tour.
Exhibitions and room settings illustrate life in Paradise Mill in the 1930's and educational visits for schools are arranged to link in with Key stages I, II & III. Weaving and spinning workshops are organised to provide opportunities to experiment with a variety of techniques and materials. .
