Winner of The Guardian Family Friendly Museum Award 2003, Killhope explores the life of North Pennine lead mining families. Park Level Mine underground experience, Northern England's largest working water wheel and hands-on activities. Visitor Centre with shop, cafe and World's largest Spar Box exhibition. Woodland walk, under 7s play area, workshop and activities.
Open: 1 April - 31 Oct daily 10.30am - 5pm (until 5.30pm on Bank Holidays and 17 July - 31 August). Also Santa Down the Mine weekends 4,5,11 and 12 Dec 10.30am - 4pm. Rest of the year by appointment for groups only.
