The Golden Hinde is an exact scale, fully operational reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake's Square rigged galleon which sailed round the world 1577-80. Dressed in period clothes, Drake's new recruits learn 16th Century skills, eat Tudor food and experience life 400 years ago. The ship is also open to the public for self guided tours.

The Golden Hinde is a real sailing galleon which has made a circumnavigation of the World and sailed over 140,000 miles. The ship has 5 levels of deck including the gun deck and 22 cannons. It is an educational museum open to the public 7 days a week and used extensively by schools for hands-on learning through our various programmes

The ship is open 7 days a week.

Please call ahead for opening times as these vary depending on our pre-booked tours and scheduled events.
