A beautifully restored working Victorian pumping station and museum of mechanical antiquities. The west side of the upper gallery contains full size and model stationary steam engines. The east side on the other hand illustrates the way in which steam power is used in transport.

The underground tunnel leads to one of the last original working boiler houses in the world which contains four magnificent Lancashire boilers with shining brasswork and serpentine steam pipes.

Opening times: seven days a week, 10am until 5pm (last admission at 4pm). Open all year except 18th December to 1st January inclusive. In steam first Sunday of each month and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Prices: Adult ticket £4: Concessions £3: Family ticket £12. Re-presentation of a ticket bought on a "non steam" day entitles the holder to half price admission on any future steam day.
