Great Western is a one of four Newquay beaches popular with both surfers and families alike, with caves in the surrounding cliffs and rock pools to explore at low tide. This west-facing beach is situated between Towan and Tolcarne beaches on the north Cornwall coast is reached either by walking along sands at low tide or access via a path between the Barracuda night-club and the Great Western Hotel (disability access to the beach via a private lift). The nearest Car Parks are in Newquay.
