The Elsecar Heritage Railway is made up of a group of volunteers committed to the preservation, restoration and expansion of a preserved railway in South Yorkshire. EHR Volunteers carry out all duties on the railway, from driving the engines to maintaining the track.

The Railway operates trains on Sundays from Easter to November, plus selected Saturdays and other dates. Cream Tea Specials operate on Wednesdays throughout the summer, please see the website for more details. Santa Specials also operate in December.

Trains currently operate over a 1 mile section of the former colliery line to Elsecar. The railway plans to extend the railway by a further mile in the future.

The current base of the railway is at Rockingham Station (Elsecar), adjacent to the Elsecar Heritage Centre. Here are located the railways engine sheds, workshops and offices.
