An exhibition by the founder and director of Forth Environment Link is to be held at The Stirling Smith gallery, that shares her love of the earth's natural landscapes and love of nature.
From her early working life as a geography teacher to her later career as founder and director of Forth Environment Link, an environmental education charity, June has had an instinct to share with others her love of the earth's natural landscapes and the details of nature contained within them.
Her work in environmental education involved influencing individuals, schools and communities to live more sustainable lives. This was underpinned by helping to raise awareness of the wonders of nature in order to cultivate a desire to conserve the natural world. There were occasions when this was achieved through partnership events run at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum and in Ailie's Garden.
Now in retirement June has developed a particular interest in capturing the beauty of nature through the eye of a lens. Her photographs express her appreciation of the shapes, textures, colours and tones that she finds all around her in the outdoors. Her greatest satisfaction is to share this enthusiasm. Her images are hand cut prior to the creation of composites which she hopes will inspire others to observe their surroundings with renewed interest.
The exhibition is supported by Kodak Express Digital Solutions of 65 Port Street, Stirling.
The Stirling Smith is open 10.30-5, Tuesday-Saturday and Sunday 2-5. Shop, cafe, gardens, meeting rooms. Admission and parking free.
