A Night at the Opera

Over 100 voices will take to the stage for ‘the Big Sing’ at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) on Saturday 5th April when the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation Chorus will be joined by the Hepworth brass band for a programme of music from the world of opera.



Over 100 voices will take to the stage for the Big Sing at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) on Saturday 5th April when the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation Chorus will be joined by the Hepworth brass band for a programme of music from the world of opera.

The band and chorus will join forces to perform Verdis Speed your Journey from Nebucco, the Easter Hymn from Masganis Cavalleria Rusticana, Puccinis Humming Chorus and Borodins famous Polovtsian Dances.

The bands programme will include music from the opera Carmen, the Introduction to Act 3 from Lohengrin, the Overture to the Barber of Seville and the duet from the Pearl Fishers with the chorus and soloists from QEGS and Wakefield Girls High School performing Rossinis the Cat Duet, the Flower Duet by Delibes and music from Gilbert & Sullivan.

The concert gets underway at 7pm and it all makes for a great evenings entertainment with tickets 6 & 4 for concessions available from Wakefield Girls High School Office (tel 01924 372490) or on the door.
