Last night saw the 54th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles with Britain's favourite artist Adele picking up Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year for Rolling In The Deep', her second studio album 21' won the Album Of The Year prize.

The songstress also picked up awards for Best Pop Solo Performance for Someone Like You' and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21'; Rolling In The Deep' scored Best Short Form Music Video.

During her tearful acceptance speech Adele said Mum! Girl done good and after thanking Rick Rubin, who she said had taught her quality control she added that It's been a life changing year. The singer then wiped her nose and laughing said Oh my god, a bit of snot!

The singer was applauded for her live performance of Rolling In The Deep' which was her first performance since the throat operation she received in November 2011.

Gods of rock the Foo Fighters also had an extra special night, as they dominated the rock category awards winning Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for Walk'. White Limo' from their seventh studio album Wasting Light' received a gong for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance and the album itself received the award for Best Rock Album.

Chris Brown had a great night as he brought the audience to their feet with his performance of Turn Up The Music and his album F.A.M.E won the trophy for Best R&B Album.

This year's Grammy's seemed to be a low key affair, as just the day before the ceremony the music industry had been shocked by the sad news of Whitney Houston's untimely death.

The sombre show kicked off with a performance by Bruce Springsteen who sang We Take Care Of Our Own, and just moments later host LL Cool J announced, There has been a death in the family which he then followed with a prayer.

A clip of Whitney Houston singing I Will Always Love You was played bringing the audience to their feet leading many to tears.

A last minute addition to this years Grammy's was a heart wrenching performance by Jennifer Hudson, who performed a perfect and emotional rendition of the song I Will Always Love You.

A final tribute to Whitney Houston and the end to a sombre2012 Grammy award ceremony came from ex-Beatle Paul McCartney who sang his rendition of The End from the Beatles album Abbey Road'.
