Adele was in the middle of her acceptance speech, for the top award of Album Of The Year at the Brits last night, when she was rudely interrupted by host James Corden.

The singer was interrupted to allow for James Corden to introduce Blur, but she was not amused and flipped the middle finger to show her annoyance.

Adele, who had performed an amazing rendition of Rolling In The Deep, had said after the incident that the rude gesture was aimed at the suits of the show.

The Someone Like You Singer' was saying, 'Thank you so much, thank you, thank you very, very much.

'Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year.

'I'm so proud to be flying the British flag for all of you.'

It was at this moment that James Corden appeared on stage and to a booing crowd said, 'I'm so sorry, can I just cut off'.

Adele responded by saying, 'Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I'll see you next time around,' which she followed with a flip of her middle finger to the delight of the audience.

Blur who had earlier won Outstanding Contribution Award, were introduced and proceeded to play three of their songs.

Meanwhile a spokesman for the Brit Awards said, 'We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running. We don't want this to undermine her incredible achievement winning our night's biggest award. It tops off what's been an incredible year for her.'

Brit Awards host James Corden is said to be upset about having to cut short Adele's speech.

Speaking on ITV2 after the live show James admitted that he didn't quite know why he was told to cut the singer short. He said, 'I was having the best night of my life and then I had to cut Adele off before she's even had chance to say thank you.'

He added 'She's the biggest star in the world, I don't understand what happened but I'm upset about it'.

The whole incident has been blamed on long acceptance speeches from other artists including the rambling speech from Blur's frontman who was reportedly to have had the longest speech of the evening.

Other big winners of the evening were Ed Sheeran, who walked away with British Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist.

Coldplay who opened the show with a performance of Charlie Brown' received the award for best British Group. Later in the evening Chris Martin, Coldplay's frontman, joined Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds for their performance of AKAWhat A Life.
