BEST OF THEATRICAL & LEGAL PROFESSIONS IN 80th YEAR MURDER IN THE CATHEDRAL

In the current climate of suicide attacks, religious conflicts and dangerous speech, Murder in the Cathedral remains painfully relevant in its 80th anniversary year. There's an obvious resonance between T.S. Eliot's drama about the killing of Archbishop Thomas Becket and the recent murder in Charlie Hebdo. So a unique collaboration between the legal and theatrical professions in the historic Temple Church this January has added appropriateness.

There's an obvious resonance between T.S. Eliot's drama about the killing of Archbishop Thomas Becket and the recent murder in Charlie Hebdo. So a unique collaboration between the legal and theatrical professions in the historic Temple Church this January has added appropriateness.

A professional cast featuring Philip Franks as Thomas a Becket, Christopher Ravenscroft, Andrew Hall, Christopher Hollis and Patrick Toomey perform alongside actors drawn from the talents of the British and Irish Bar.

The production is directed by Joe Harmston and is the brain child of Stephen Hockman QC who will be Treasurer of Middle Temple in 2015.

The Chorus of the Women of Canterbury the heart of Eliots exploration of Beckets martyrdom is formed by some of the finest women advocates in the country ranging from high-flying young barristers to well-established QCs. They include: Ukranian-born Barrister and former ballet dancer, Tetyana Nesterchuck, and Linden Ife who in addition to being a Barrister is also on the board of the Almeida and Young Vic theatres.

The Priests who battle with so much of Eliots interpretation of the mysteries of Christian faith - bring together talents including a recently called Barrister, an actor-turned-Barrister, an established Government Solicitor and a Barrister-turned-actor.

The production is designed by Simon Scullion with lighting design by John Harris and Costumes by Jonathan Lipman at Angels. The production features original music composed by Matthew Bugg.

There will be only three performances of Murder in the Cathedral at the Temple Church on Friday 30th & Saturday 31st January at 7pm and Sunday 1 February at 4 pm. Tickets are available from www.templemusic.org or 020 7427 5641.
