Best know for his role as Lance-Corporal Jack Jones, actor and author Clive Dunn has died at the age of 92 in Portugal following complications from an operation earlier this week, leaving his wife and two daughters.

Sad news has just been announced this afternoon that Dad's Army actor Clive Dunn has died today at the age of 92.

Best known for his role as Lance-Corporal Jack Jones, the news of Clive Dunn's death has been received by peers and celebrities including Stephen Fry who wrote on Twitter: 'saddened to hear of the death of Clive Dunn, the immortal Corporal Jones from Dad's Army. RIP.'

The actor, who also starred in 'My Old Man' and had a hit with his record 'Grandad' which reached number 1 in the UK charts, is reported to have died from complications following an operation earlier in the week.

Clive Dunn leaves his wife, whom he married in 1959 and his two daughters Jessica and Polly.
