Walt Disney have secured a deal to buy filmmaker George Lucas's company Lucasfilm Ltd for $4.05billion in cash and stock.

Within this deal, Disney have bought the rights to the 'Star Wars' franchise, and the new owners have announced the deal will include the surprise promise of a new film in the series to be released in 2015.

Walt Disney have confirmed this week that they have plans to release three more films in the Star Wars saga, the last si-fi movie in the series was 'Revenge of the Sith' which was released in 2005.

George Lucas has denied plans to make more 'Star Wars' movies in the past, but has now said in a video interview this week that he had already created story lines that outlined another three more films.

The first movie will be released in 2015 with Disney's long term plans to release a new film every two to three years after.
