ScotRail are investigating an incident which saw a fare-dodger being hauled off by a fellow passenger on a Edinburgh to Perth train last friday.

Video footage of the incident was filmed and uploaded to YouTube, which has seen more than half a million hits since friday.

The youth, who refused to both pay his train fare or disembark the train, was hauled off by a large man, who lifted him off his seat and threw him onto the platform at Linlithgow Station in West Lothian.

The passenger helps the conductor by stopping the teenager from getting back onto the train, before he returned to his seat to rapturous applause from other passengers.

A spokeswoman from ScotRail commented on the incident, saying 'While we welcome the public's support of our zero-tolerance stance on anti-social behaviour, our staff are trained in conflict management and we do not expect members of the public to take matters into their own hands. We are investigating the incident, which appears to show a person travelling without a valid ticket, refusing to pay for the journey, and swearing at a staff member in full view of customers.'.

A round of applause to this as-yet unknown hero! Footage of the video below for your enjoyment:
