Disgraced former glam rock star Gary Glitter is set to earn thousands of pounds from royalties at this year's NFL Superbowl between New England Patriots and New York Giants in Indionapolis in the US this weekend.

Gary Glitter who was convicted of possession of child pornography in 1999 for which he served four months in prison, and following his release, and not surprising relocation to Vietnam, he was convicted of a string of offences for child sexual abuse, is set to earn thousands in royalties after NFL officials have confirmed that a cover of his hit 1972 song Rock and Roll Part II is to be played during this year's Superbowl in America.

The NFL has previously stated that they did not want the ex-rock stars track played during matches, although a number of teams have used the cover version by Tube Tops 2000 instead.

The cover version was recorded in 2001 for a compilation album titled Blockbuster: A 70's Glitter Glam Rock Experience'.

The NFL Superbowl which kicks off at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in the US on Sunday 5 February, will feature Material Girl' Madonna performing during the half time show and will see the US National Anthem being sung by Kelly Clarkson.
