Griff Rhys Jones four day tour of Yorkshire

Star of Not The Nine O'clock News, Alas Smith and Jones and more recently BBC 2's Three Men In A Boat, Griff Rhys Jones will be embarking on a four day tour in Yorkshire starting tonight at The Milton Rooms in Malton, Yorkshire.



Comedian, actor, presenter, campaigner and the President of the Civic Voice, Griff Rhys Jones, will be kicking off a four day tour of the Yorkshire and Humberside region today at the Georgian Theatre,The Milton Rooms in Malton, Yorkshire.

This Georgian Theatre in Malton has a real chance of becoming a leading theatre providing jobs and an economic boost to the area after it was announced that they are to receive a multi-million pound investment plan.

Griff, who is the ambassador for the Prince's Regeneration Trust, will be holding an open evening at the theatre tonight for a special Tea & A Tale event in which he will read a classic short story and talk about his experiences in saving historic buildings, and to discuss what the future might hold for The Milton Rooms.

Griff will also be taking questions from the audience in what promises to be a great evening.

The Welsh comedian will also be appearing in Bradford to talk about the success of Bradford Odeon Rescue Group and Addingham where he will hear from and speak with groups involved in the Wharfdale green belt campaign.

The Alas Smith and Jones star will also be visiting Hebden Bridge to speak at a national event organised by Locality on 'civic buildings'.

On Wednesday he will be in Sheffield Hallam University to talk about the importance of active communities and to see how Urban Splash turned around Park Hill.

Finally on Thursday Griff will be in Leeds to speak to businesses in the city about playing their part in supporting communities followed by a dinner for members of the civic groups from across Yorkshire as a thank you for the work they do.

This tour coincides with the Government pushing forward with the Growth and Infrastructure Bill.

Griff will be talking to these communities and businesses to tell them about how the national Government policies will affect them. He will be encouraging people from these communities to go out and support the work of their local civic society.
