Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star in his self-directed as yet untitled romantic comedy in which a cassanova embarks on a journey 'to be come less of a selfish dick', the actor says.

The Hollywood star, best known for his starring roles in Inception, Brick, 500 Days of Summer and his supporting role in the teen hit 10 Things I Hate About You, based on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.

Though Gordon-Levitt rose to prominence in US sitcom Third Rock from the Sun, it has only been in recent years where we've seen him become a well-known actor on the silver screen.

Reportedly a favourite actor of director Christopher Nolan, Gordon-Levitt has worked with Nolan again since Inception, cast in this year's highly anticipated film The Dark Knight Rises.

Star of The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger, died shortly before the film's UK release and it has been said Gordon-Levitt's looks and style of acting are very similar to Ledger's.

Gordon-Levitt has reunited with Brick director Rian Johnson in the film Looper, which is post-production and said to be a sci-fi gangster film, starring Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. Gordon-Levitt was also cast to play Abraham Lincoln's brother in Spielberg's next film, Lincoln, which is also post-production.

Scarlett Johannson rose to fame when she starred in The Horse Whisperer with Robert Redford and Kristin Scott Thomas. Since The Horse Whisperer, she is best known for her roles in Vicky Christina Barcelona, The Prestige, Iron Man 2 and The Other Boleyn Girl.
