Magician and actor Ali Cook to tour UK

Ali cook, the award winning magician, star of the hit show Penn and Teller and actor extraordinaire will be staring in his first feature film role and embarking on a UK tour. His debut movie 'Get Lucky' will be released on 9 August and his UK tour Principles and Deceptions starts on 31 August 2013

As an award winning magician and one of the stars of 'Penn and Teller: Fool us' (ITV1) Ali Cook has shocked and amazed us with his unique blend of highly inventive original magic tricks, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on stage. Now the debonair magic man is about to leave us spellbound again as he takes to the big screen for his film debut in 2013.

His forthcoming feature film, 'Get Lucky' sees him playing the main supporting role of 'Kirby' alongside Olivier award winner Luke Treadaway, James Cosmo (Braveheart) and Emily Atack (Inbetweeners). 'Get Lucky', for which he also has a writing credit, has a nationwide release of 9th August via Universal Pictures. The film has been directed by Sacha Bennett. Sacha has directed 'Devilwood', an award winning short film with John Sim, 'Tuesday' (John Sim) and 'Outside Bet' with Bob Hoskins amongst others.

But Ali's acting prowess in 'Get Lucky' is no one trick pony as 2014 will see the release of two more feature films featuring Ali - 'Epic', directed by Ben Hopkins, where he plays the supporting role of Daniel alongside Matthew Macfayden (Spooks/Anna 'Karenina'/'Pride & Predjudice') and MyAnna Buring ('Twilight'/'Ripper St'/'Downton Abbey'). The second Universal Pictures release is 'The Anomaly', directed & produced by Bafta award winner Noel Clarke ('Adulthood' & 'Kidulthood').

Ali plays the supporting role of Agent Travis a secret service agent protecting the world from mass destruction, alongside Ian Somerhalder ('Lost'/'Vampire Diaries'), veteran actor Brian Cox, US actress Alexis Knapp and Australian actor Luke Hemsworth.

In July he starts filming a main supporting role as the investigating officer in crime thriller 'Peterman' for Talent TV, alongside Alison Steadman & Phil Davis. The film is directed by Mark Abraham, produced by Tim Phillips and executive produced by Tony Humphries ('Outside Bet' with Bob Hoskins).

In addition to his acting work Ali will bring his latest critically acclaimed magic show 'Principles and Deceptions' on tour for the first time, taking in 20 shows this year between his acting commitments.

Ali, a Silver Star associate member of the Inner Magic Circle, received nightly standing ovations for his show with his unique approach and his performances of large-scale illusions. His irreverent style and acclaimed sleight-of-hand have made him one of the pioneers of the alternative magic scene. As a result, he has an array of famous fans and has performed at private parties for Damien Hirst, JK Rowling, Minnie Driver and Basement Jaxx, as well as premiere parties for movies including the 'Harry Potter' series amongst others.

Ali has recently written a comedy film with writer and sharp one-liner comedian Gary Delaney. The film, 'Cassandra at the Wedding', will star Emily Brown and is produced by Sam Taylor, Stephen Daldry and Mike Downey for F&ME Productions. He has also written and starred in many high-profile TV series including Monkey Magic, Psychic Secrets Revealed with Derren Brown and the darkly twisted Jerry@Trick sketch show with Jerry Sadowitz (all for Channel Five). He was also the star of Channel 4's critically acclaimed late night show, Dirty Tricks (nominated for a British Comedy Award and The Golden Rose of Montreux).
