Musicport are delighted to announce their 2015 festival dates, prices and info on some of the world renowned artists that will be performing in the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Whitby this October.

Now in its 16th year and having received the best ever feedback from audience and artists alike in 2014 Musicport, Indoor Festival Of The Year 2013 - FATEA AWARDS, is launching its 2015 programme which includes some of the finest major international acts playing alongside some of the best local and regional acts. It is an inclusive and wide-ranging event that has all the feel of an outdoor summer festival but all indoors under one roof theres even an indoor camping option to complete the festival experience.

The festival has really changed my perspective on World Music; opening my eyes to the vast spectrum of musical acts the genre encompasses, and also how contemporary it has become. For a music festival that offers captivating music, exciting new cultural experiences it looks like Musicport is the place to be.

Yorkshire Coast Gigs

Established in 2000 to promote live music and music education in Whitby and the surrounding area, Musicport welcomes festival goers of all ages with its safe and indoor surroundings guaranteeing a warm and wonderful festival, whatever the weather!

Being held in the Pavilion at one of the UKs most beautiful and charming seaside resorts of Whitby, North Yorkshire, with an abundance of quality places to eat, drink and stay, makes for a truly unique festival.

Musicport will also be hosting The Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards on the Friday of the festival featuring several Yorkshire acts on the North Sea Stage. Workshops comedy and film programmes are still to be confirmed.

Tickets for the full weekend are 99 (95 concession) with under 18s half price and accompanied under 11s free.

Indoor camping @ Brunswick Centre is also available at 30 for three nights

As well as the annual festival, Musicport also run a regular concert programme at The Compass Club in Whitby.

Artists who have appeared as part of their concert programme in the past include Jah Wobbles Invaders Of The Heart, Midge Ure, Daby Balde , Yusa, The Easy Star All Stars, Hazel OConnor, Asere, Black Umfolosi, Sharron Shannon, Waterson Carthy, & Kate Rusby.

Musicport are also partners in the North Yorkshire Youth Music Action Zone and run a regular programme of education workshops and activities.

As a taster of whats on offer in October, Musicport are hosting a performance by The Kathakali Theatre Company from Kerala in South West, India on Saturday 6th June at Whitby Pavilion Theatre. Kathakali is based on Hinduism and is a highly charged powerful drama that combines devotion, drama, dance, music, costumes and make up to produce one of the most impressive forms of sacred theatre in the world. Kathakali is ancient and classical in nature and holds centuries of tradition and culture. It is not simply a dance-drama but an act of devotion featuring the universal struggle between good and evil.
