Robert Pattinson threw a themed party at his home in LA over the weekend and one of the many A list guests was non other than E.L James - author of the mummy porn trilogy 50 Shades of Grey, igniting new rumours of a lead role in the film.

The Twilight star Robert Pattinson was said to have been crushed last year after he heard E. L James didn't want him to play Christian Grey in her new film.

It was reported that the actor was very upset and vowed that he was 'going to make [her] pay for that'.

But over the weekend Robert Pattinson threw a Great Gatsby-themed party at his home in LA , and invited the author along with several other A List stars.

During the evening it was reported that the erotic romance writer was seen speaking to actor Warren Beatty and mixing with songwriter Dianne Warren and singer Todd Michael Schultz.

It was also reported that Robert Pattinson had admitted during the posh bash that he was struggling to build friendships in Los Angeles.

The party, which a source revealed had around 100 guests, a live band, valet parking and finished at 2 am, was thrown for his director friend Nicholas Jarecki.

It has recently been revealed that Sam Taylor-Johnson would be directing the movie version of the soft porn trilogy by E. L James, and following the author's presence at the party, speculation has been reignited that The Twilight star is in the running for the coveted lead role of Christian Grey.

Notably missing from the LA bash was Pattinson's former girlfriend Kristen Stewart, who is reported to have been partying with her friends in Nashville.
