Skyfall takes £924million in just 40 days

The 23rd installment of the James Bond movie Skyfall has so far earned more than £94million in just 40 days. The film, which stars Daniel Craig as 007, beats the efforts of the 2009 animated science fiction film Avatar which made £94million in 11 months.

The 23rd James Bond adventure movie, Skyfall, has now taken a massive £94,277,612million in just 40 days since it's release in the UK.

This staggering amount makes box office history and surpasses the amount made from the 2009 3D animated science fiction film Avatar which had previously held the record in grossing £94,025,632million in 11 months.

This most recent James Bond film which continues as the longest running and most successful franchise in film history went on general release in the UK and Ireland on Friday 26 October.

Producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli responded to the fantastic news by saying:#quote#We're overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema going audiences in the UK who have made Skyfall the highest grossing film of all time. We are very proud of this film and thank everybody, especially Daniel craig and Sam Mendes, who have contributed to it's success.#/quote#

This most recent James Bond installment is based on the age-old myth of the phoenix as Bond (Daniel Craig) makes a comeback from death, first literally then metaphorically. The spy who never dies and British Spymaster (Judi Dench), who's past comes back to haunt her, are locked in battle with Silva (Javier Bardem) who is bent on revenge.
