Singer Katherine Jenkins and television presenter Gethin Jones have called off their year long engagement.

Mezzo-soprano Jenkins, 31, and Jones, 33, both confirmed the break-up on Twitter. The pair got together four years ago after Jones took part in Strictly Come Dancing and Jenkins performed on the BBC show. They had met a couple of years earlier on Blue Peter while Gethin Jones was a presenter but at that time, Ms. Jenkins was already in a relationship.

The couple shared a luxury home in London and were seen together on television days ago when they were in the audience for 'Michael McIntyre's comedy special', which aired on Christmas Day. The singer has previously complained about her busy work schedule and how it left her little time at home.

It seems that busy work schedules and little time together at home had taken its toll on the relationship despite the fact that Katherine has recently admitted that her work was soon to take second place to her desire to start a family after marriage.

Katherine Jenkins, who is due to start her next tour on January 7, signed her first record deal in 2000 and is now worth £13m, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
