Speaking to Mail Online, Will Young has said he would like children: I'm very broody and I really want kids, but I don't think it will happen until I'm into my 40s and in a long-term relationship.'

He then went on to add that he would love to work a job that is 'less selfish', claiming that working in showbiz can 'make you very self-absorbed'.

I'm ready for a new relationship, but it will happen when the time is right. He said.

Singer Will Young rose to fame in 2002 after winning Pop Idol and has since sold over eight million albums worldwide.

Along with singing, he is a philanthropist at heart, supporting many charities including gay charity Stonewall.

Last year, Will Young was voted best role model for gay young people in an online poll and last month, he admitted to Attitude magazine that until he was 26 years of age, he was 'terrified' of being gay.

I was terrified of being gay so I didn't really feel sexual until I was about 26 I was quite inhibited.

I feel like I've reached a place that I'm happy with, worked out things I will never do. It's taken me years to work that out.
