Agnes Obel and brother Holger grew up in an unconventional environment in Copenhagen - their father collected strange musical instruments, and their mother Katja Obel was a brilliant musician who loved to play Bartok and Chopin.

Having such an eclectic mix of surroundings led to Agnes learning to play the piano in childhood, where she excelled. Now influenced by Roy Orbison, Joni Mitchell and PJ Harvey, she sings, writes and plays all her material herself. Clearly very talented, and very welcome at venues across the UK.
