Indie bands in America have typically been closely associated with the likes of Sparklehorse and Trail of Dead, but another very well known frontrunner is the group Dispatch. Coming out of Boston in 2004 Dispatch has an indie sound that is as "middle of the road" as it gets for the genre. They definitely are not the type of band to become loud for no reason at all, and their lyrics do tend to be on the artsy side of what is the norm in the genre. Taking the time to appreciate this band is not difficult at all for indie fans, and in fact dispatch has a very large following in the scene. Their concerts have typically been very crowded and they have never had any trouble selling tickets, making them a very popular road show. Dispatch definitely sets the bar for other groups looking to break into the scene, especially in their home town of Boston.
