Florida based rock band 'Lynyrd Skynyrd' first became prominent in the southern US states post 1973 and went on to worldwide success.
Famed for songs such as 'Free Bird' and 'Sweet Home Alabama' they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. In 1977 three band members and one road crew member were killed in a plane crash and the group disbanded. They reformed in 1987 for a tour and further albums have been released, the latest of which was 'God and Guns' in 2009.
