'Marina and the Diamonds' refers to a female singer/songwriter (not with band as most presume). She is 25 years old, Welsh but of Greek descent and has been on the music scene since 2007. Her sound and style is that of indie-pop and she first rose to fame having reached number 2 in the BBC 'Sound of 2010' poll, coming second to Ellie Goulding. She did however; win the 'Best UK and Irish Act' award at the BT Digital Music Awards in 2010. Her first album was 'The Family Jewels' (2010).
