This is the generally agreed upon lineup for whom the greatest MCs to ever pick up a microphone are. We'll not get into that debate here, but let's be clear there's as good a argument for Nas as there is for anyone.Nas started rhyming in school yard battles but caught his first break when MC Serch of Third Base gave him a shot in the early 90s.In 1994 his debut album "Illmatic" followed. If this isn't a top three rap album of all time featuring songs that really pained a grim picture of the New York of the age like "N.Y. State of Mind" and "It Ain't Hard to Tell" then you're asking the wrong person.2001 saw the start of his 2 year plus feud with Jay Z that really brought the best out of Nas. The challenge forced him to expand as a artist, a rhymer and in the realm of street cred. Most would point to this period as Nas's golden era.Eventually Nas and Jay buried the hatchet and worked together at Def Jam producing some interesting projects.2013 saw a nomination for his "Life is Good" at the Grammys and news of the recording of a new Nas studio album along with European tour. Pay respect.
