Carlos Augusto Alves Santana is a Mexican/American rock guitarist who became famous in the late 1960s/ early 1970s with his band 'Santana'. The band was loved for its jazz/salsa fusion with blues guitar and Latin/African rhythms. The band saw a real resurgence of popularity in the 1990s which led to both critical acclaim and commercial success. They have won 10 Grammy Awards and released three albums to date, the latest of which was 'Oneness: Silver Dreams Golden Reality' in 1979.
