The Alarm are a Welsh New Wave / alt rock band that got together in 1978.

The Alarm remained strictly a underground success until discovered by U2 and brought out on tour as their opening act in 1982. A hit single "Sixty-eight guns" that rose to #17 in the charts quickly followed and even a appearance on Top of the Pops!The Alarm are known for incorporating Welsh language and tradition into their songs. This emphasis on Welsh identity has caught the interest of both fans and historians and even earned The Alarm mention in books covering contemporary Welsh culture.Internal friction saw The Alarm split up in 1991 with it's key members moving on to other projects. 2001 saw front man Mike Peters get The Alarm back together with a variety of lineups but still playing their classic beloved sound. One new hit song "Superchannel" cracked the top 30 in the charts and their recent albums, and especially their live concerts have garnered critical acclaim.
