As English rock bands go the Horrors are a very special breed of animal, hailing from a time and place when music was more an art form than a way to 'hit it big.' They stay true to this mantra both in terms of their music and their stage performances which tend to be a bit avant garde. Debuting in 2005 with the record Origins the band drew a lot of their inspiration from earlier groups such as Bauhaus, and while they have their own sound the influence can certainly be heard. Taking the time to appreciate a band such as this is not difficult at all, and the rewards for the avid listener are numerous and unique. While The Horrors are certainly not easy listening, they are a force to be reckoned with in the music world and have gained a superb following. One thing is for sure, this is a band that is not going to go too mainstream anytime soon.
