Thursday 4 March

Thursday 1 April

Tours start at 2pm (each tour lasts approx. 1 hour)

Join us for a guided tour and discover the gory story of Broughty Castles military past.

The Castle, which dates from the fifteenth century, was captured and occupied by an English army in 1547. The tower still has the battle scars from its encounter with General Monck in 1651!

In the middle of the nineteenth century a nationwide panic over the threat of foreign invasion led to Broughty Castle being restored as a military fortress.

Find out about the guns that lined its ramparts, and the lives and gory deaths of its attackers and defenders!

Booking

Admission FREE. Places are limited, so booking is essential on (01382) 436916.

Please assemble at the entrance ramp. The age and nature of the building unfortunately means that there is no disabled access other than to the courtyard area. Please also note that the tour is unsuitable for people with mobility problems. As this tour is mostly outside, wearing sensible shoes and appropriate weatherproof clothing is advised.
