Festival of Creativity: From Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 April, the Paintworks Event Space on Bath Road will play host to Expressions, a unique Festival of Creativity. Hundreds of artists have made the imagined, inner world life-size, including six giant animal-headed dolls at a tea party, an interactive Tree of Dreams and a tunnel of sensory delights.
Organised by Milestones Trust, a Bristol-based charity supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, the festival showcases work from a year-round programme of arts workshops and mentoring. Professional artists and service users have worked together to create installations for the event, such as a life-size nostalgic pub, themed rooms, secret passages and a central chamber made up of knitting.
The event will host a variety of workshops, including electronic music-making, singing, drawing, writing, ceramics and shared reading events. There will also be things that visitors can join in with at any time, such as costumed photography, different kinds of knitting, and adding their own dreams, memories and stories to collective artworks.
Expressions will be open to the public from 2pm - 6.30pm on Wednesday 18 April, and from 10am ' 6.30pm from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 April inclusive. More details can be found on the Milestones Trust website at www.milestonestrust.org.uk
