Culture Storm is a dance performance involving young dancers and youth dance groups from Luton. The performance fuses, fashion and dance with a particularly English modern flavour to engage the wide diverse communities who live or work in Luton.
The dance piece celebrates the Industrial Heritage and history of Luton, and the many people whose families came to the town to work in these factories and industries from all over the world. The performance will include a film of Luton’s heritage and industrial past, a dance show and flash-mob.
Culture Storm will tell a story of positive England through spoken word artists and celebrate the different ethnicities who have contributed to our countries past ethos and values. This event will allow people to watch, enjoy and participate. Culture Storm aims to claim back the St Georges' Cross which has been used for right wing negativity in the past, we will use It for positive cohesion purposes to highlight the simple fact that English people of today descend from all over the globe, both near and far. In addition we will celebrate those who’s’ parents came from countries such as Jamaica, Pakistan, Romania, Poland Ireland and others to work in the factories.
