A boy and a girl meet randomly on the street. Sounds familiar right? Well, think again.
heartbreak noun /ˈhɑːt.breɪk/The Oxford dictionary defines the word as a feeling of great sadness. PeaHead Theatre Company attempts to define the word differently.
In the company's first play, we follow a random boy and a random girl, when a chance meeting outside of Tesco's is bound to change their lives. He sees her and he immediately knows she is the one. What is he supposed to do? Say something? And what if she's already with someone else? A million thoughts go through his mind as he stays rooted in place.
Like water opening up in different paths, all the possibilities unfold in front of us, as we attempt to answer all the "what ifs" that plague them.
What if I'd spoken sooner? What if he was the one? What if I never see her again?
We see them again and again, through years of their lives, circling each other, finding and losing themselves in the pursuit of the ONE.
Inspired by a short story from H. Murakami and further devised by Niki Karakitsos and Oliver Gill, PeaHead Theatre is presenting a human and heart-wrenching play that will make you think, regret and maybe fall in love again.
The company focuses on telling real stories through the actors, allowing them to use their voices and bodies to move the audience. Minimal props are in use, as we want the actor and the story to be the focal point of the audience's experience. You don't need more than two eyes to witness, two ears to overhear and one soul to feel. Open yourself up to a seemingly ordinary story, a story that you think you know the ending to, but do you, truly?
