Accompanied by slides and music, John will talk about the Civil War and the Commonwealth period through to the restoration of the monarchy. During these years, the first Council of War was held in Reading, and Charles I was briefly held in captivity in Caversham, before his eventual execution. This is the fifth in a series of five talks this quarter around the theme of the English Civil War, timed to commemorate the 375th anniversary of the Siege of Reading. Buy all five talk tickets for the price of £20 (members £16).
