The Olympic gold medallist starred alongside hearing dog puppy Jade at Tatton Park in Manchester, the home of British Cycling, for the launch of the Hearing Dogs Sportive. The event is one of the most scenic in the UK, touring the very best of the Buckinghamshire Chiltern Hills and surrounding countryside with a choice of beautiful 50, 80 or 100-mile routes all starting and finishing at the Charity's headquarters nestled in the heart of this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Says Elinor Barker: "I have always been a dog-lover and I was incredibly touched to learn just how much these very special hearing dogs change the lives of deaf people.
"That's why I am so proud to be launching and supporting the Hearing Dogs Sportive - a challenging, but inspirational ride, which will help increase awareness around the devastating effects of deafness and raise funds so that more hearing dogs can be trained and partnered with people whose life they will completely transform."
The event features three clearly marked routes of varying distance, mechanical assistance, sweeper wagon and first aid, feed stations, electronic timing for all riders as well as start/finish refreshments and BBQ.
