The musicians of the Chiltern Camerata perform in the Wycombe Arts Festival
This forms part of the Wycombe Arts Festival http://www.wycombeartsfestival.org/ and takes place on Saturday, 13 May at 7.30 pm at the Church of St Lawrence, West Wycombe Hill, HP14 3AP - an ideal Summer venue - when we will perform orchestral music by Schubert, Nielsen, Haydn and Arvo Pärt.The programme features two delightful and well-known symphonies: Haydn's Symphony No. 85 in B flat- known as 'La Reine' and Schubert's charming Symphony No. 5, coincidentally in the same key!
The high spot for many will be our performance of the virtuosic Clarinet concerto by Carl Nielsen in which the soloist will be Mandy Burvill. Mandy is a celebrated player and soloist. She spent 10 years with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and more recently as a freelance players has played with groups such as the BBC Philharmonic, the Hallé, Northern Sinfonia, Manchester Camerata, Northern Ballet and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
We also feature a brief work by the living Estonian composer Arvo Pärt - his Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, written for string orchestra and a solitary tubular bell.
