A friendly, informal and wine tasting journey sampling at least 13 wines from Italy - no previous experience necessary!At Cambridge Wine School we host our Saturday Wine Courses in the beautiful surrounds of Gonville & Caius college. It's one of the oldest university colleges in Cambridge (founded in 1348) and Professor Stephen Hawking is a fellow.
Half way through the day we'll take a break from sampling and learning about wine to enjoy a delicious two-course lunch.
COURSE OUTLINE
Italy can be the most confusing wine country to get to know, with its enormous diversity of wine styles. But it is worth spending a little time to understand it and the discoveries repay the effort involved.
We will wander through the north of the country, from the NW (Piedmont) to the NE (Veneto), through Tuscany and the Marches to the warm south (Puglia, Campania, & Sicily). You will experience first hand the amazing range of grape varieties and flavours that Italy has to offer and taste some classic Italian wines along with some from new-wave winemakers.
- North & North West: Piemonte, Trentino Alto-Adige, Lombardy
- North-East & East: Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche
- Central Italy: Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo
- South & Islands: Campania, Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia
