Cheshire Visitor Centre: Archaeological excavations are now taking place at the 2000 year-old Roman Amphitheatre - the largest stone-built arena of its kind in Britain - with finds being put on show in a new exhibition at the nearby Chester Visitor Centre. The building offers one of the best views of the site from its top-floor gallery.
Chester Visitor Centre (CVC) has been one of the main ports of call for tourists in Chester for years. Now, with the Amphitheatre Project in full swing, it is set to become even more of an attraction for tourists and the local community.
Along side the more traditional information panels you will find several interactive displays aimed at children (though they are tempting for big kids of all ages!). These include piecing together a broken replica amphora, building a wooden amphitheatre, identifying coins, drawing, colouring, and many more. .
