Get Creative this Half Term with the SHIFT programme, with digital making activities introducing new technologies to Cheshire East families.
Come along and create an 8 x 8 punchcard design using traditional punch and hammer. Feed your card into the reader and by the magic of Python code, converting the physical holes into binary files of 0’s and 1’s, build it on a Minecraft Map.
Family Drop In activity from 10am – 12 noon & 1pm-3pm.
No need to book, limited availability
Developed by Gemma May Latham, PatternCraft is inspired by textile and computing heritage. PatternCraft is a make-it-yourself analogue to digital punchcard reader. It’s a tool for learning the fundamentals of computing and code, and a base for developing interactive projects.
Chris Ball has been delivering workshops with Arduino and electronics for many years, and more recently runs Pattterncraft events with Gemma. Chris has worked on a wide range of projects from small musical instruments to large scale interactive sculptures. He has a degree in Audio Technology, and specialises in sound and light.
