Catalyst Science Discovery Centre

Catalyst Science Discovery Centre, Widnes, Cheshire, WA80DF

Catalyst Science Discovery Centre: Catalyst is the only science centre (and museum) solely devoted to chemistry and how the products of chemistry are used in every day life - from medicines to meccano. Our key aim is to inform people of all ages about the "chemistry" industry and its role in our lives, past present and future.

Finding out is fun at Catalyst. We have four interactive galleries with over 100 different exhibits to tug, tease and test. Enjoy panoramic views across Cheshire from the roof-top Observatory reached by a scenic glass lift, or visit Scientrific, Birth of an Industry or Chemicals for Life.

Also on offer is free car parking, a shop where you'll find a wide range of intriguing scientific toys, souvenirs and gifts, and the Elements Cafe, the perfect place to enjoy a tasty meal, snack, or ice cream, while admiring the riverside views.

Opening Times

Weekdays (Tuesday-Friday) 10. 00am to 5. 00pm and Bank Holiday Mondays

Weekends 11. 00am to 5. 00pm

Closed Mondays except during half-terms, Easter and in August, when special events are planned and we are open 10. 00am to 5. 00pm.
