Tate St Ives: In 1928 the meeting of Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson and Christopher Wood began the development of St Ives as an artists colony. With the outbreak of war in 1939, Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and Naum Gabo settled in St Ives, establishing in West Cornwall an outpost for the abstract avant-garde. Tate St Ives opened in June 1993 and offers a unique introduction to modern art, where many works can be viewed in the surroundings and atmosphere which inspired them.
Tate holds the national collection of British art from 1500 and of international modern art.

March - October Monday - Sunday 10.00 - 17.30
November - February Tuesday - Sunday 10.00 - 16.30

Tate St Ives will be closed for rehanging on the following dates:
10 - 21 Jan 2005
3 - 13 May 2005
26 Sept - 7 Oct 2005
During these closed and restricted access periods the shop, cafe and Hepworth Museum & Sculpture Garden remain open.
