Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir are in concert with special guest Val Howels at The Ballroom, Oldway Mansion, Paignton. All money raised from the sale of tickets is in aid of Age UK Torbay. The choir sing around the region raising money for local and national charities and in the last five years have contributed over £50,000 to these good causes.
The choir's wide repertoire includes songs from shows such as Les Miserables, Chess, Blue Moon, Phantom of the Opera as well as traditional Welsh hymns, Spirituals, songs of a nautical nature through to an Al Jolson medley and those written by Rogers and Hammerstein.
Anyone who enjoys the sound of 50 plus men singing with great gusto and enthusiasm will not be disappointed.
Val Howels, soprano, had singing lessons at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Emilie Hook. She has performed widely in East Devon as a soloist, both concert and oratorio and is often invited to perform as a guest soloist for local charities. She is delighted to be singing once again with the choir. In her spare time she writes children's stories.
Frances Waters, accompanist, studied at Trinity College of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music and Edinburgh University. She moved to Exmouth in 2002 and is much in demand as a soloist and accompanist.
