Gilbert OSullivan: Irish-born singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan hit the big time in the 1970s with a string of top 10 hits and albums, following several years of working hard to hone his craft.

His success was international and continued for much of the decade, before taking more of a back seat during the 1980s.

The nineties saw a return to live performances, as well as a successful and far reaching court appearance suing an American rapper for an unauthorised sample of his 1972 chart topping hit "Alone Again (Naturally).

More recently, January 2011 saw the release of the album "Gilbertville". O'Sullivan is renowned for the wit in much of his songwriting, as well as a distinctive look during his 1970s heyday, reminiscent of a Dickensian street urchin.

Whilst his image nowadays is more conventional, he still has his trademark curly hair and has not lost the gift for writing and performing well-crafted pop songs.

The 2012 tour promises a mix of nostalgia and more recent offerings, drawing on more four decades of material and experience.
